Every business story is marked by chapters—some shaped by uncertainty, others by growth and resolve. This Sales Bit reflects on the dignity of work, the meaning of being “essential,” and the responsibility of staying relevant as we step into a new year.

This week ends another chapter in our story, and begins another. 2025 was filled with opportunities, challenges, victories, sickness, health, and new beginnings in relationships.
"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world." Anne Frank was a diarist, a victim of the Holocaust, and died at age 16.
Do you or do we find dignity in our work?
About five years ago, our country and the entire globe were in the throes of COVID-19. No one knew what lay ahead. We had perhaps gotten comfortable with what had happened in the last ten years, since the recession in 09-'10.
In response to the forced shutdown across our region and country, we learned that, because of our place in the construction sector, our work was considered essential. It was determined that utilities were a valuable resource for our communities, as was the care of homeowners' trees and landscapes. After approximately 60 days of uncertainty, the handwriting began to clear up as our place in the economy was taking shape.
Regardless of each team member's role, you are valued. Your place in our story and the lives of those you serve are making a difference to many around you. New and long-term customers alike see the value that you create for them.
While the world labeled us ‘essential’ for the sake of the economy, we must realize that being essential is actually about the dignity of service. It reminds us of the value we provide to a bigger problem of our customer with an equitable and valued solution.
As the year comes to a close, look back and reflect on where we have all come. It has been an incredible journey! It has been great because you have given it your best!
To be needed and essential is a wonderful thing. Your team expects to win and to grow in the value it creates.
"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Paul in Ephesians 2:10
As we prepare for 2026, what will be done to stay relevant in the marketplace? What assumptions need amending? How will it remain essential to the customers we serve?
What will your 2026 story be in twelve short months?
Is there a goal?
Will we stay relevant?
How is it going to happen?
