A strong business culture is built on more than performance alone—it’s shaped by values that endure. One of the most powerful of those values is generosity: how we serve, how we invest in relationships, and how we create value beyond the transaction. The message below reflects on what it means to give intentionally in business and why generosity often delivers a return far greater than we expect.
From Denny Vander Molen, President of Vermeer MidSouth and Founder and CEO of Jackson Endeavors
In business, it is an important characteristic in a culture is that of generosity.
“We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.” Winston Churchill was instrumental in bringing peace to Europe during World War II.
If November is known for gratitude, December could be known for generosity.
Giving is more than a generous act involving money; it is an uplifting act for both the receiver and the giver. Neither is it about giving away products and services for free.
At Vermeer MidSouth, we have abundant intuition, expertise, and value for our team and our customers. We have a strong understanding of our markets, customer needs, and our products.
Let’s think about it like this:
If I am in sales, what insight, trend, or market intel could I share that doesn’t directly or quickly lead to another sale? In reality, it could elevate the relationship.
If I am in service, what machine-level intel could be shared to extend the life or productivity of the equipment we support?
If I am in parts, what tip or follow-up could make that difference for your customer, making them smile at the next visit or phone call?
If I am in accounting or management, what advice, process, or gesture could be given at no cost but still add value to the receiver?
How would you feel? How would the recipient feel?
If we are to be grateful in our season of Thanksgiving, how can we give that little extra for those we serve? That extra something doesn’t have to be a product or tangible, but a little of you that can be shared. That is your ROI! Your ROI that keeps giving back for you to continue to invest forward! Are you ready for a giving-December?
“And God can bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” II Corinthians 9:8, Paul writing to the church in Corinth.
Have a great sales week!
