Sales Bits: Building on a Strong Foundation
Every successful business and meaningful relationship begins with a strong foundation. In this Sales Bit, Denny reflects on the importance of purpose, trust, strategic planning, and a clear direction as the cornerstones of sustainable growth.
From Denny Vander Molen, President of Vermeer MidSouth and Founder and CEO of Jackson Endeavors:
All,
Understanding the "whys" of our objectives and how they align with our "True North" vector is a critical success factor for every endeavor we pursue.
"Start each day by affirming peaceful, contented, and happy attitudes, and your days will tend to be pleasant and successful." — Norman Vincent Peale
Building on Solid Foundations
Constructing any physical structure requires a solid plan and a strong foundation. Over the years, we have continually built and adapted our facilities to support our business growth. Case in point: our Cordova location is taking on an exciting new project—a complete refresh of our 25-year-old facility. Customers and team members alike are looking forward to more space, an updated look, and a better overall flow for serving one another.
The Business and Personal Framework
Businesses require a strong foundation as well. Elements like financial plans and goals are important, while corporate bylaws and operating statements are essential. Strategic alignment with good partnerships, products, and vendors is critical. Furthermore, trust between customers and team members requires a dedicated investment from day one—an investment that must compound over time.
Personal relationships are equally vital, starting from the very first handshake and introduction. Those in our community—from our neighborhoods, places of worship, and beyond—build and shape us. Family members influence us as we grow, and as we raise children and build lives with our spouses, we establish a foundation while keeping our priceless "True North" in sight.
Purpose, Attitude, and Direction
Our confidence in why we are here, whom we serve, and how well we execute requires an attitude of joy and gratitude. Strong foundations are never happenstance, nor are they taken lightly; they are entirely intentional. Ultimately, a lasting foundation requires a moral compass rooted in a belief system—one that demands consistent work to build a great future for each investor.
As you start your week, take a moment to reflect on these questions:
What is a critical success factor for you and your team?
Does it rest on a great foundation?
Where exactly are you headed?
Will you realize and enjoy a high level of success and satisfaction?
Will that success be shared for the greater good of those involved and close to you?
What will your attitude be when you arrive?
"He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." — Micah 6:8
Have a great sales week!
